Joyce Hansen ’74
“Bryn Mawr was a transformative experience that molded my character, set me on the path of lifetime learning, and led me ultimately to my current career.”
Joyce M. Hansen ’74
In the decades since she graduated from Bryn Mawr, Joyce Hansen ’74, sees clearly the path from her small town New Hampshire roots, to her education at Bryn Mawr, the friendships she enjoyed there, and to her career as an attorney in New York. “I attended law school in large part because of the inspiration and encouragement of a roommate who was a year ahead of me,” she says.
Joyce is a Deputy General Counsel at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where she leads a team of 15 staff attorneys. Her team provides legal support for the group at the Bank that executes the nation’s monetary policy.
When it comes to her own monetary priorities, Joyce focuses her support on financial aid for Bryn Mawr students. She currently supports one student on campus through a Thomas Scholarship, and she is also planning to support future generations of Bryn Mawr women with a gift through her will.
“I am happy to know that a gift through my will, can help Bryn Mawr educate and empower women, regardless of their means, in the future.”
