Sharon Bishop MSS ’70
Sharon Bishop MSS ’70 came to Bryn Mawr's Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research (GSSWSR) on a full fellowship and a stipend from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. At the GSSWSR, “I found my career, my profession, my life’s work.”
After graduating from the GSSWSR, Sharon grew a consulting business focused on government social programs. Over the course of her 30 years as a management consultant, she was responsible for more than 150 studies for federal, state and local government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. She led efforts related to substance abuse treatment, child support enforcement, military family programs, and youth job training.
Sharon highlights her time at the GSSWSR as “one of the best experiences of my life. I loved the school.”
Sharon is an emeritus member of the GSSWSR’s Board of Advisors. Her decision to include the GSSWSR in her estate planning is a natural, and thoughtful, extension of her commitment to serve the School, and to support the next generation of Bryn Mawr-educated social workers. “My legacy at Bryn Mawr is to provide a bequest that will help ensure that future Bryn Mawr social work/social research students can have the same important experiences I did.”
